ventures, partnerships and business deals being done.
Commenting on the announcement, IMDO Director Glenn
Murphy said:
"Ireland is almost unique amongst European
Union members given our dependence on shortsea shipping networks to support our
trading economy. Changes in this sector can have a real impact on our global
economic competitiveness and it is important that we keep up to date with
developments in the market. Bringing the leading executives from across the
industry to Ireland is a great way to do this."
Speaking on behalf of Coastlink, its Chairman David
Cheslin commented:
"We are delighted to be returning to Dublin
again with our members following our last excellent conference there in 2007.
The Shortsea and Ports sector has seen many significant changes since the last
conference and it will be a really interesting opportunity for the sector to
share their views on the further evolution of the business."
Shortsea 12 will be held in one of the Mansion House's
most famous features, the Round Room. Over the years the venue has hosted many
important meetings. It was built in 1821 for the visit of King George IV and
was later where the first Irish parliament assembled to proclaim its
independence.
A pre-conference high level networking event will be
hosted on the evening of 23 May for delegates and industry executives.
